Dr. Lee Katz is the chief bioinformatician for the Enteric Diseases Laboratory Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Before joining CDC, Dr. Lee Katz earned his PhD in Bioinformatics from Georgia Institute of Technology and created an online MLST database for Neisseria meningitidis which has been expanded to other molecular typing data.

Dr. Lee Katz recently completed Haiti Vibrio cholerae outbreak project and is currently working on developing whole genome-based typing scheme for Listeria monocytogenes. He is also actively involved in developing an open-source CG-pipeline for next generation sequencing data analysis.
